Tailor Booth was started for the rooms a catalog could not fit. Seating, the thinking went, should be built around the room and the people who will use it, which meant a workshop that could draw, build, sew and install the whole piece itself, so that nothing was lost between the sketch and the opening night.
Today the workshop builds booths, banquettes, benches and lounge furniture for restaurants, hotels, bars and residences, along with the tables, bases and back-bar displays that go with them. The best commissions still begin the same way: with a sketch, a photograph or a difficult corner.
